Artist Statement by Rob-KSArtist Statement by Rob K-S is an ongoing series of writings in blog form. The writings are in a short essay format, which means they are a brief exploration of at least one idea. The word essay is derived from a french word that can be translated as “to have a go at” or “to try.” The writings are a demonstration of the author “having a go” at an idea.
An artist statement should give the audience a rough guide on how to read an artist’s work by outlining how the artist approaches the world. By including as many thoughts as possible Artist Statement by Rob K-S strives to give the audience a comprehensive understanding of how the artist Rob K-S sees the world, something that he believes directly influences his work. The implication is that the more essays you read, the better you will be able to understand his art.
Poems By Branden DashiellMy name is Branden and I write stories and poems. I find inspiration in the world around me, including the entire human organism, which to me is like a body of water- easy to see, but very deep, so rather difficult to get to know thoroughly.
I’m also fascinated by the intersection of man-made infrastructure and the machinations of nature. A port, for example, or a parking garage. Ideas set in a material and built, meticulously enough that they may stand their transitory ground against the relentless entropy of time and natural space.
I’m intrigued by the twin notions of relevancy and meaning, and often find myself asking: Why? Why build a glass tower? To sum up, I write about human beings and our stilted, awkward interface with nature, and with ourselves.
